Adobe Photoshop CS2 Upgrade from Photoshop Any Version

5 stars (CS2 photoshop) - I have not have time to really work with it yet, but what I have worked with is awesome. 5 stars (It's worth the upgrade!) - I upgraded to the new Adobe Photoshop CS2 and found it was worth the money. The Bridge, takes the place of the old browser, is fantastic. The new vanishing point grid is cool. And if you're a photographer who uses RAW images this is the way to go. You are able to edit right in the Bridge without even opening Photoshop. I've only had my copy for a couple of weeks and already it's comfortable to use. The application gives you links to online tutorials. Very informative. 4 stars (Product good. Company bad.) - I'm an avid Photoshop user. I'm even a member of the NAPP. I use Adobe Photoshop every day in my work becuase it's great for everything from television produciton to web design to making your ex-girlfriend look like she has a huge nose. So I'm already a raving fan, and when CS2 was announced I was on it. Where I have a problem is with Adobe itself. First, when I recieved my upgrade I tried to install it but ran into a problem. It wouldn't accept my previous version, nor would it accept the serial number. A bit put out, I called Adobe. Here's where problem number two came in - they wouldn't even talk to me until I paid $40 for tech support! I'm a small business owner. If I treated my clients with this sort of contempt I'd be flipping burgers or selling blood to make a living. But what do you do when a faceless corporation initiates a policy designed to cut down their own costs for technical support by placing the burden on their own customers? The next slap in the face came when I finally got through to tech support. The reason my serial number wouldn't work was because I had been foolish enough to purchase the Adobe Creative Suite as a full package. The copy of Photoshop CS that I had wasn't a stand-alone copy, it was part of a package. In order to use the upgrade I would have to have a full ve...

Adobe Photoshop CS2 Upgrade Mac from Photoshop Any Version

3 stars (Not _exactly_ true...) - Yes, Photoshop CS2 is a stellar product. But before you spend your money, visit the Adobe site and make sure the Upgrade will work with your version of Photoshop. (It will most definitely not work with "Any Version") 5 stars (CS2 comments) - I have been using and upgrading Photoshop since version 2.5. Photoshop CS2 (Version 9) has been the best upgrade thus far. I am using the raw converter with great results. I just tried the Capture One Pro from Phase One, and did not like it as much for numerous reasons. There are a lot of new features that I find to be of great use from a photographic point of view. 5 stars (Terrific Service !!) - The response was very fast. The item came as advertised. It works on my MAC G4 very nicely. ...

Adobe Photoshop CS2

2 stars (Bridge & Camera Raw Plug-In don't work on my computer) - I love Photoshop, and have worked with all the previous versions, so I was very disappointed when I found that I could not get the Bridge to open or the Camera RAW plug-in to work on my Windows XP machine. I wasted hours and hours of my life on the phone to technical support, but they could not resuscitate this version on my computer. They never were able to tell me why I could not get these two key features to work. Without them, CS2 was virtually useless to me. My computer was only a little under 2 years old. Perhaps you will have better luck... 5 stars (A gift from the Digital Gods) - Photoshop is the king of its domain, every good artist, or anyone interested in photo manipulation, should not be without this. Now, I am not saying it's easy as pie to use, but I am saying it's the greatest tool for the job...If you can use it. I myself have used it for quite a number of things, personal and business and can confidently say I still have a lot to learn. 1 stars (Adobe Limpness) - Photoshop is a pretty powerful tool, but it is undermined by its own supremely crappy print drivers. One piddling window with maybe four controls and NO PRINT PREVIEW! No print preview for a piece of imaging software (at this late date) is perhaps the stupidest idea since the first caveman chewed on a tigers tail because he was hungry. Seriously, without a decent set of print drivers, you might as well try to alter your photos with a crayon and an iron. Idiocy. Unforgivable. Even Adobe's own Illustrator has a robust Print controls window. ...

The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack

5 stars (A great addition to the Sims 2!) - I was not very excited when I bought this game, but now I see that I should have been. The Sims 2 University is great! There are lots of new things you can do with your sims. So here are the pros and cons: Pros 1. Having been playing this game for about 3 months, I haven't noticed any glitches other than the usual Sims 2 glitches (freezing, etc.) 2. Sending your sims to college is surprisingly easy. As long as they have some skills that they have built from childhood, they progress rapidly through the eight semesters. Once they graduate, it is much easier to get them good jobs and thus you are much more able to fulfill their aspirations. 3. Your sims now have "Lifetime Aspirations". These aspirations are linked to their normal aspirations (Family, Knowledge, etc.) and are usually quite difficult to fulfill. For example, a family lifetime aspiration might be "Have six children get married" and a knowledge lifetime aspiration might be "Max out 6 skills". These aspirations are difficult, but add more interest to the game, so that all your knowledge sims, for instance, don't have the exact same lives. Once you have achieved the lifetime aspiration, your sim remains on platinum aspiration for the rest of his/her lifetime. (You can still earn aspiration points, though.) 4. There are lots of new objects, including the instruments (guitar, bass, drum kit, etc.) and a few extra rewards such as the plastic surgery kit and the cash machine. Cons 1. Sending your sims to college is fun, but it takes quite a long time for them to graduate. While it's not very difficult for them to pass all their tests, it is time consuming. 2. I was disappointed to learn that the NPC's still don't grow up with your sims. (I'm quite tired of having all my teenage sims fall in love with the same boys who will never grow up. Peter Pan, anyone?) 3. Your sims cannot join a band, but if you have more than one instrument you can ask another sim to "Join" and...

Adobe Creative Suite Standard CS2

5 stars (Quark to InDesign - Easy as 1-2-3) - I've been a QuarkXpress user since 1990 and I thought i would never find an equal. Well I have....it's called InDesign. With a Visual Quick Start book in my lap, I learned InDesign in a weekend and over the next 2 months, I designed a 54 page magazine using the program. And one of the best things about InDesign is how easy it is to produce PDF files, which is a real pain using Quark. Another plus is Adobe, a first-rate company. They let you try out any of their programs for a month. I did this with InDesign to see if my G4 running 10.28 could run the program and it did, with no problems. The new quark requires Tiger OS. I'm glad I made the switch, I'm never going back! 4 stars (More Features, Less Speed/Stability) - I've used both Photoshop and Illustrator for many years now, and I've been continually impressed by the new features in each version that have made my design work easier. CS2 does deliver with a number of enhancements in both tools and interface for both products. The good you can read in the press-release info above, and yes the new features are great. The unfortunate downside to CS2 is performance. If you do not have very good hardware, expect a performance decrease with CS2. For example my Quadro video card only has 64MB of memory, but Photoshop CS2 really needs 128MB or more to run smoothly. Without it, Photoshop will sometimes pause for a moment as it has to catch-up with your commands. Also expect 1GB of system memory as a real need, 2GB preferred. You can even run with up to 3GB in XP SP2 when the /3GB switch is set in the boot.ini, and PS will use it. Photoshop used to run pretty well with one HD, but it was preferred to have two physical drives to separate the windows paging file and Photoshop scratch disk, where data files could share some space with scratch disk on the second hard drive. Now for better performance, you need three separate hard drives: one for windows and applications...

Music Ace Deluxe

2 stars (Great!...for personal use) - I feel like I got snookered. This is cool software, but this particular package can only be set up for ten users! Big problem for a studio with 160 students. Not bad for home use though. 4 stars (Great support material!) - I bought this for my 4 year old who is taking piano lessons. HE LOVES IT!!! It is not only educational but also entertaining for children and adults alike. Definitely worth it!! 5 stars (Great Entertainment & Learning!) - As a music educator, I find this software is perfect for learning and drilling the essentials of music theory. The graphics and visuals are entertaining for elementary-aged students and the prompts are clear enough that my non-reading four year old LOVES to play. She has entertained herself for hours! ...

Adobe Creative Suite Premium CS2 Upgrade Mac

5 stars (Great Software) - This suite is amazing in how much you can accomplish with it, even when you're not a graphics designer of webdeveloper. The learning curve is somewhat steep, but is pays of to persist. I have developed several sites that look great and are of professional quality. GoLive is still somewhat buggy, but this may be memory related (currently I work with 1gig) 4 stars (Creative Suite 2 Upgrade) - Good creative software. There seems to be some unstability (minor). I'm sure Adobe is working on the patches. The differences between CS1 and CS2 appear to subtile for the most part. Adobe Bridge is one of the differences that stand out, and enhances all CS applications the way the file browser did for Photoshop. I am concerned that the packaging was nearly destroyed when CS2 arrived. Anyone could have looked in and nabbed it during the shipping process. I'm relieved the software arrived, but I wonder from time to time what would have happened if it hadn't. ...

Guild Wars

4 stars (At least get out of Ascalon before writing a review) - Please do. I don't want to hear about how the post-apocalyptic landscape made you angry, because it's not there for long. In fact, most of the game is covered by the snowy shiverpeaks, the verdant Kryta, The vibrant Maguma and the kind of strange crystal desert. And also don't complain about the instanced areas. Do you want people asking you "How I mine for fish?" in the middle of an important quest. And no in game economy, have you been to a city? Boring PVP, have you played a guild vs guild or a 8 team Hall of Heroes? The 8 skills and level 20 thing is to keep people from becoming superpowerful and killing everyone really easy. 5 stars (An Excellent MMORPG) - In the past, I used to be a hardcore MMORPGer (WoW, RuneScape, you name it). Of course, subscriptions can cripple the enjoyment and acquiring of these games. Perhaps that's one of the main ways Guild Wars weeded in players - no monthly fee. The graphics are quite spectacular - what's more spectacular is how it can run with even the worst video cards. I use a GeForce 5500FX, which isn't too bad. However, some games like BF2 I can run on low-medium settings. --- I don't want to take up much time here, so let me just tie up loose ends: --- Pros: Excellent Musical Track/Sounds/Graphics Plenty Of Lore No "Perfect" Build, so you can experiment with stats and abilities all the time Guilds/parties/constant updates allow for replayability No monthly fees Cons: More fighting/crafting/quests, less of all those random non-combat abilities, such as fishing, mining, etc --- As you can see, Guild Wars ' pros outnumber the cons in my eyes. So, whether you're a hardcore MMORPGer or getting the feel of MMORPGs, Guild Wars is perfect for everyone. 3 stars (Free is what you pay for.) - Mind you this is my mom's account. When I first saw this game on a store shelf I had to look again. It was that big sign that says "FREE online play". Yes this is an...

Adobe Creative Suite Premium CS2 Mac

5 stars (Excellent software for print and web!) - The Adobe Creative Suite Premium CS2 is an awesome product. I'm a scientific illustrator and this new CS2 contains almost all the software I need for my illustration and graphic design work. There are a lot of significant improvements over the previous CS version. Of all the programs I use Illustrator the most. Illustrator's new "live trace" and "live paint" features are really cool! Each of the programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat) work very well together. The new Bridge is great for finding and previewing image files. Photoshop and Illustrator are the industry standards. If you do professional work this is the best software to have. The price may seem a little steep, but in my opinion it's well worth it. I highly recommend this product. 5 stars (Installation was a breeze) - I am compelled to write this review since at least one reviewer complained about the installation being a problem. I did not see any problem whatsover. It was simply a breeze on my Mac powerbook G4. As to the quality of the product itself, it is too early for me to give a rating since I have just started using it. I will update this review in a month or so. 1 stars (Installation Issue) - I received my CS2 yesterday and ended up spending over three hours on the phone with Adobe with installation issue and another 45 minutes this morning trying to get my free gift to no avail. Beware of what they tell you re: free gift! If you can't install the software and register THROUGH the software, you won't get your gift. It's a catch 22 - you can't register through the software if you can't install it, you can't get tech support if your product is not registered, so you register on the phone and NO gift! Here is what happened: Insert CD, double click on installer, prompted for password, then it quit with Apple's message "the ... has unexpectedly quit . . . " Tried a few things using Adobe.com support knowledgebase...

Adobe InDesign CS2 Upgrade

5 stars (An amazing tool for the mind.) - I've been doing graphic arts pretty much since the stone age. Who among you can remember gelatin transfers, mimeographs, Linotypes, or the smell of beeswax and the sharpening of blue pencils? Stat cameras anyone? I've used Pagemaker since the beginning. And then InDesign. This version, CS2, is the smoothest, greatest production and layout tool in the world. The integration with Photoshop and the other Adobe products makes it a joy to use. Believe it or not, I am now more productive by myself using just InDesign and Photoshop than was the whole 15-member graphic arts team I directed 20 years ago. Fabulous. ...

Adobe Photoshop CS2 Mac

5 stars (WOW. Great new features.) - I love the new exposure and gama correction tools as well as the perspective filter. This application did cause me to do a complete system overhall but NOW my Mac runs like an Olympian. The more robust and powerful this application gets, the more taxing it is on your system. A few things have chaged, such as how you link and select layers but after getting used to it I believe it is an improvement. Adobe Bridge (the replacement for the file browser) is an awsome application too, allowing you to run batches in both Illustrator and InDesign as well as Photoshop. You can preview documents in most formats also. As a professional designer and photographer this application is indespensible. 4 stars (A gem that can be enhanced and polished) - Photoshop is one of the great software products ever created. It has continued to evolve to match the needs of advanced digital photography, offering some really astonishing capabilities -- assuming that you have the time and necessary instructional materials. It has a steep learning curve. Where Photoshop falls short is in ease of use. Along with features development, Adobe should focus on making the application simpler where possible. Even advanced users can benefit from simplicity. For instance, it could be much easier to crop photos to the conventional 3-to-2 proportion for printing and commercial processing. Adobe could adopt the kiosk method of visual cropping using a moveable box without eliminating the existing approach. It is especially bothersome to work a non-standard image into the 3-2 format, and many commercial processors automatically (and crudely) crop irregularly sized photos instead of fitting them entirely withing he selected print size. Adobe needs to acknowledge the reality of every day use, and offer a simplified solution. The company is a bit slow in this department, as evidenced by how long it took to create a relatively automated way to correct red eye. There is always ...

Adobe Creative Suite Premium CS2

4 stars (A cost effective way to get the industry standards.) - Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat are the industry standard in their respective applications and purchasing Creative Suite is more cost effective than purchasing each component individually. One point to pay close attention to is the RAM requirement for this software. If you want to run just one application at a time, you need a minimum of 384MB. To run more than one application, you need at least 512MB with 1GB recommended by Adobe. CS2 checks the RAM on installation and will not even install on a computer with less than 384MB. Another point is that you are not buying the software. You are licensing it from Adobe and agreeing to their terms and conditions. Part of the agreement is that you can make a limited number of copies of your CD's and that you can install CS2 on a second computer such as a laptop as long as you don't run it at the same time as your primary computer. I had planned to do this, but ran into the RAM limitation on my laptop which is an older machine. It can run Photoshop 5.0 by itself, but not CS2. I tried to install Photoshop CS only instead of the entire CS2 package but it would not accept the registration number. Adobe support told me that installing individual components of CS2 is forbidden and will not work. You can only install the entire package. This will not affect your primary computer since it is what you are buying the software for in the first place. But in this case, I may have been better off just buying the parts that I need and can use on the laptop rather than paying to upgrade my RAM. Once installed, Adobe CUE CS2 is programmed to start when you turn on your computer. However, you can stop it from doing so if you don't want it hogging all of your RAM when you are not using CS2. 3 stars (Another unexciting upgrade from the industry leader) - As a professional web designer, I have used Adobe products for the last 8 years and dread every new ...
