3 stars (Too Easy) - I am working with a rising senior; she and I both feel the tests in this book are too easy and easier than the real SAT. I am resorting to old volumes of "10 Real SAT's" and other company's test prep materials. 5 stars (The Official SAT Study Guide: For the New SAT) - Exactly what I need to teach the SAT. 1 stars (This is not even funny) - Is it a good book or not? Does it help or you are waisting you time and money? It, baby, depends on what you are lookin' for. If you want to study for SAT then you have no choice but to buy this book. What you will see on a test day is in this book. This writing comes from test-makers and you can (hopefully obviously) assume that it will help. I don't really know what to say here... SAT is a monopoly. Everyone has to do it no matter what. Than, let's see here, comes a book, let's see, from test-makers, hmmm, lots'f profit; isn't 't so?! 5 stars (Great Study Book) - This book was very helpful to use for preparing for the General GRE Exam. I thought they covered each section of the text very well and explained how to do well in each part of the exam. The practice tests were a great study tool as well. 3 stars (Warning to Mac Users) - If you use a Mac, AVOID this book. The reason I state this is that you won't find out until you've opened the envelope containing the CD that it works on Windows only. They do not have a Mac CD to send you -- you are up a creek. As for the rest of the book -- it's standard test-taking skills. If you need that, it's fine. 5 stars (The best resource) - I only had a few weeks to study for the GRE and the Premier program, 2006 edition, was the best resource. It helped in all three catergories and gave useful examples. The accompanying CD was also a great tool. It gave great practice tests that helped me prepare for the actual test. This is a MUST if you have a time constraint. ...

The Complete German Commission E Monographs- Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines

4 stars (Important work if one understands its place) - This is an important work, helping to document the validity of herbal medicine. However, it is not an all-encompassing work and obviously isn't referenced. Nevertheless, the German Commission E's method of publishing monographs based on the information gathered from companies, researchers, and practitioners (but apparently kept confidential) serves a useful purpose. It is always helpful to consult this text to get some solid conformation for common traditional uses. Every practitioner and researcher should have this book, though it certainly cannot be used in a vacuum. 2 stars (Huge Disappointment!) - I had hoped this book could be my benchmark for herbal information. What I found was a book that was hard to use with little useful information. ... Otherwise, Facts and Comparisions' Review of Natural Products is a better choice. 5 stars (The Most Solid and Dependable Work on the Market) - I have worked with herbs for many decades and have shelves and shelves full of works on Herbs and Healing. The German Commission E Monographs is still an often used Reference that in my oppinion belongs on everyone's shelf who works with Herbs. True, it does not cover all that the herbs are capable of and due to lack of proof, many wonderful herbs are not approved, BUT, and this is most important, whatever you find in this book is scientifically proven and you can believe it. I VERY strongly recomend this book, and the CD as well. Whenever you explore a new herb, or need to know facts, check it out in the Commission E Monographs. Then you have a very good outline from where you can start to work with, and together with other herbals get to know and experiment to arrive at your own conclusion. And that is not to mention the inclusion of interaction with other drugs, side effects, mode of administration, active composition for each monograph and different chapters that cover all that is important. A MUST for every practition...

4 stars (Same as 2005) - While, this book is great, comparing it to the 2005 version I saw that the practice tests were exactly the same. Basically the 2005 version just got a new cover. If you dont have the 2005 version, get the 2006, but if u do buy something else unless you want repeat questions. 5 stars (This book delivers results) - This year's edition is basically the same as 2005's. Last year when my son took the pre-test in the book, he scored a 169. By time he finished the book and took the last practice test, he scored a 211. When he took the actual PSAT test, he scored a 207. The practice tests really help. And Kaplan's easy-to-use book was very readable. ...

5 stars (Vital for Comp) - Simply necessary to understanding doctor reports. Only odd part is how the "patient" in the pictures looks like Saddam Hussein. Maybe he's filing a claim too. 5 stars (A must for professionals in disability law and medicine) - The 5th Edition is the Rosetta Stone for evaluating permanent impairment. It is invaluable in workers' compensation, where many states, provinces and several countries either mandate its use or treat this work as an authorativie source of impairment evaluation. It may also come to have utility in ADA cases, especially with its emphasis on activities of daily living, and as a predicate to demonstrating the significance or insignificance of an impairment's effect on major life activities after Toyota vs Williams. The vision chapter represents the AMA's first major, published revision to the science and knowledge of eye impairments since the early 1900's. 5 stars (Nice Charts) - Although my copy came with 10 pages of errata sheets stuck in the front of it (presumably cured in the 5th version), I still got a lot out of reading through this book. The descriptions of impairment are de regeur reading for coming up with convincing settlement demands for soft tissue injuries. Someone's shoulder hurts? How do you say they have lost 20% of their upper body use as a result? Why not 90% of one finger, 50% of one hand, and 80% of one arm? Multiple impairments like these can be descriptively segmented to more fully elaborate what a patient is feeling, and how they are limited in daily activities. Both the plaintiff bar and the insurance community are well-served by this book. As for the medical accuracy of it, I'll take the AMA's word for it. ...

GMAT 2006- Premier Program Kaplan Gmat Book - CD-Rom

3 stars (Good practice problems, bad presentation) - I preferred 'Cracking the GMAT', which I read first. I ended up using this book primarily for the practice problems. My big complaint with this book was that in the answers to the practice questions, the problem isn't included. To see the original question, you have to flip to the quiz, then back to the answers...this style makes it difficult to see where you went wrong. Note that the CD version only works on Windows, and you won't see this information printed anywhere obvious. 3 stars (Some parts good, some less so.) - The good: The book itself has some fairly good explanations of things and useful tricks. The practice questions are nice to have, especially the data sufficiency questions which are so unlike anything the average college student has previously encountered. The mediocre: Much of the explanation is *too* much, I think, for a book that's supposed to be geared at people who either have graduated or will be shortly graduating from college, but I may be nitpicking with that. What I definitely find irritating is that the book seems to have been poorly proofread; I caught one reference to 'going back to a question later' or something similar which must have been from a version predating the CAT! The bad: The internet portion offered works very poorly and doesn't give you much that the book and CD don't, though they certainly hype it enough. And the practice questions are generally of easy-to-moderate difficulty, even though it's an adaptive test, probably to get high-level test takers to purchase their separate GMAT 800 book. The gist: If you just want to survive it, this'll probably do you fine. If you're expecting to expand on your preparation with other books, question sets, or prep programs, this seems like a good place to start. But if you want to really do your best, you're going to have to do more than just this book. Since it's a $250 test, you can probably afford a few other boo...

This book tells you how to think through questions, eliminate the wrong answers instead of looking for the right one was the most important lesson learned. This book however lacked the number of questions. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens

5 stars (Breakthrough Book!) - I purchased this book for my teenager before sending her off to college as a freshman. She doesn't like to read, and basically dislikes books, so I was hoping she would at least skim through it and pick up some of the principles in this book. To my surprise she started reading it and never put it down! I have not read the book, but there must be something very practical and relevant in this book if it grabbed my 18 year old daughters attention! She thought it was great! 1 stars (Condescending Fluff) - It's appalling to me that this book has such a high rating as of today. I received this book from a relative when I was 14, and its condescending tone combined with the fact that it tries too hard to be "hip" effectively turned me off to it. Had I receieved "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" I may have read it. Five years later and after reading some glowing amazon.com reviews, I decided to give it a fair shot. Unfortunately, my initial impression was dead-on. This book is filled to the brim with vague fluff and moralistic, cliches. Despite that the book is marketed as written "by a teen for teens," Covey writes in a heavy-handed, righteous manner comparable to an authoritarian parent. Covey bludgeons the reader with anti-sex, anti-smoking, anti-anything-the-masses-think-is-bad propaganda. He neither cautions in an objective manner, nor enlightens. Instead, he appeals to vanity, which we know teenagers are full of (*cough*HYPOCRITE*cough*). In his diatribe against smoking, he mentions TERRIBLE side effects like *gasp* bad breath and... YELLOW FINGERTIPS! Let's not forget-- teenagers think they're invincible! They would NEVER take heed if we warned them that smoking causes CANCER AND DEATH. And therein lies the problem with the premise of the whole book: It doesn't give enough credit to the teen population as a whole. It presupposes that most teens are ignorant about life. 5 stars (Best Book Out There) - Everyone studies for the ACT in a different way but the one thing that everyone needs to do is practice. This book offers 3 practice tests published by the College Board. Getting into the ACT offers 2. My advice is get both of them. When I did 2 practice tests before this book I got 28's on both. Then I worked through the 3 tests in it and saw significant improvements each time. When I finally took the ACT I got a 31 on it so from personal experience I recommend this book. 5 stars (Taking the ACT, this book is a "must have"!) - The Real ACT Prep Guide is a great resource for preparing for the test. I can't understand why anyone would pay hundreds of dollars for a classroom course or private tutor, when they can just buy this book? The Real ACT Prep Guide allowed me to work at my own pace, whenever I wanted to, 24/7. Most importantly the "retired" practice test questions have given me a major confidence boost for the upcoming ACT. 5 stars (Awesome Test Prep) - This book is great. 4 stars (A pleasure to read and excellent introduction to algebra) - Kenn Amdahl has succeeded in making algebra look like a game and maybe he is right. I recommend this book to anybody who has the slightest interest in the subject. It reads almost like listening to your mathematically inclined buddy exchanging a few words on mathematics over a beer; that's what I felt, two buddies getting together and just shooting breeze over mathematics. It certainly made me conscious of paying more attention to VOCABULARY and CONCEPTS and less on manipulation. The production, is at times, a little weak, but the heart-rending "ax * ax + bx + c = 0" recorded live in Lecture Theatre 2.13 is probably one of Algebra's finest moments. There's some real gems on this album - The stunning 15 minute opus "Quadratic/Equivalence" being a case in point. A couple of tracks grate a little, most noticably - "Simplifying Exponents of Polynomials" but on the whole this is a magnificent album and is not to be missed. ...

4 stars (Good study aid but watch out for errors) - I am in the process of studying for the CPA exam (I take the Audit section tomorrow), so I haven't worked my way through all of the books in this 4 volume set. Each of the books is divided into 'modules' to help you study by topic area. The information presented at the beginning of each module is concise and well laid out; a great aid to learning. The multiple choice questions in each module are challenging and the answers provided help to explain the correct answers. Three of the books (except BEC) have 'simulation' questions. These are a valuable resource in studying, however, Whittington and Delaney have done a poor job of editing these simulations and the problems and answers are riddled with errors. So, watch out! These errors can be a source of much frustration. Overall, this 4 volume set has helped me improve my knowledge for the CPA exam. Happy Studying! ...

4 stars (A good FINAL Review of your knowledge) - I found this book benificial for me since it gave me quite good idea on my TOEFL score. It coantains 5 actual tests and 1 extra test that coantain a sealed questtions and ansewr sheet the same way on the paper based test. Excellent for Paper based but only Good for the Computer Based test. Though this prep kit dont give any further explanation on Eng so u should have a good knowledge of english before using this guide, since it only help you know what to expect on the test. 5 stars (Very reflective of the real test) - This book is the best of its kind. The questions are extremely similar to the ones one will see during the actual test. 4 stars (Give a Glimpse of the Actual Test) - Being published by ETS, this book will give you a look of what the actual test looks like. This workbook comes with 5 (five) practice tests, all with reviews and explanations. I use all the practice tests, before I work with the ETS PowerPrep. Combined with PowerPrep, this workbook should give us some predictions of our actual score might end up. Although, this workbook is packed with practice test, it doesn't have thorough explanations on how to attack specific questions. So, you have to buy other books as a companion. First Aid for the USMLE Step 2 CS Clinical Skills Exam

5 stars (first aid cs) - I paid a reasonable amount for the item and and i received it a few days later in great shape.There was no problem whatsoever. 5 stars (Medical Boards Review) - Great help for the USMLE CS. Has a wide variety of cases with differential diagnosis and work up plan for almost every possible case that will be on the test. Definately worth it! 5 stars (Water in the USMLE Desert) - I recently passed the Step 2 CS using this book and I must say that this was not the only reference source I used. The truth is though that it was the only source worth turning to. I bought the Kaplan book along with the FIRST AID but I soon found myself using only the FIRST AID. . It turns out that the Kaplan people have no idea what it takes to help students pass this test( I have known several people who have taken their week long prep course and failed the Step 2 CS exam)......yet the authors of the First Aid do!!! The First Aid has complete and reliable Patient NOTES for almost every scenario you could find on the test....Kaplan's book does not. The scenarios in this book are perfectly made so that you can practice with a friend or loved one.....Kaplan's book was not organized well for this purpose (if at all). In addition, after doing much research (hint, hint), I came to know I was better off using the First Aid to pass. On exam day, it was the book I saw most often in students hands (More so in the hands of American Medical Students than in the hands of IMG's!!). If you are a smart test taker......then you like to pass, to pass you would want to have the tools that the winners are using. For this reason I recommend the FIRST AID as a reliable source for USMLE Step 2 CS preparation. ...
