5 stars (Excellent book but could use a better index) - This book is OUTSTANDING. America's Test Kitchen is like the Consumer Report's of recipes and cooking products. I enjoy learning WHY certain products and techniques work. They try and try until they get a particular recipe to be the best it can be. Then they share what they learned. The one disappointing aspect of this book is the Table of Contents and indexes. For example each "chapter" contains several recipes, but you have to go to the chapter in order to see what all the recipes are within that chapter. But the book is so very excellent that I can forgive this flaw. 5 stars (But use your own judgment) - I absolutely love ATK and buy all of their books. The techniques they present are top notch and as close to bulletproof as you can get. I find the spicing a little mild for my tastes so I usually amp that up a bit. Tasting results are the aggregated opinion of several people so some of the more unusual flavors you might get a kick out of may be rounded out in the math. 4 stars (An Excellent Companion to The PBS Series.) - America's Test Kitchen Live is up to the franchise's usual standards. If you are a fan of the PBS series you will want these faithfully produced scripts for the TV version. The recipes are well perfected to make sure the home chef can produce consistent mouth watering results for family and friends. If you have ever tweaked a recipe until you got it just right, you will love the approach of Chris Kimball and company. They save the home cooking enthusiast a lot of time and energy by doing the tweaking for them. The products tested in this volume range from infomercial gadgets to common necessary kitchen tools used under a range of conditions. The pretty well detailed test results not only offer the best and worst culinary utensils in any category but a lot of the near misses along with their costs. Bungalow Kitchens

4 stars (Cool Kitchens) - This book contains an excellent collection of photos of Arts & Crafts period kitchens. It discusses the philosophy of design Gustav Stickley and others advocated and shows you the results, which are still beautiful, even after all these years. It is a little short on detail, if you wanted to reproduce the look of the Arts & Crafts kitchen, but it does spark the imagination. The examples of various kitchens is broken down by designer, so it is easy to pick out their specific design influence. I found this book an inspiration for some of the designs I would like incorporate in my own home, and combined with some other books of design details, it is excellent. 5 stars (A Great Source of Ideas for Remodeling a Bungalow Kitchen) - I bought this book to get ideas on renovating my 1930 bungalow kitchen. Although the book focuses more on restoration than renovation, I still found it a wonderful source of ideas. Filled with lots of full color pictures of restored and well-preserved kitchens, the book is worth its price for the pictures alone. The text covers both historic and current issues and is a wealth of information. Each section of the book has a chapter called "Obsessive Restoration" for those serious about historic integrity, but also offers a "Compromise Solution" for those of us who need to balance 21st century demands. We found the book extremely valuable in picking layout, hardware, appliances, cabinets, and flooring. It really helped us to design a kitchen that meets the needs of a modern family, yet which blends in with the historic values of our home. 4 stars (The Real Deal) - This book is great encouragement for those homeowners who know they want authentic vintage, but have to deal with current day construction fellas who just don't get it. Cover and Bake With Free Issue of Cook-s Illustrated

5 stars (great cookbook!!) - Another great book by Cook's Illustrated! I love their cookbooks, and their magazine. What I like is that they not only give you a tried and true recipe, they give you their test kitchen results on other variations they tried. And give their reasons for either rejecting or choosing a technique, ingredient or utensil. If you are a cook who likes to know the science behind cooking, you will never be dissapointed by any of their books. I have 3 from them. I rank their books right up there with Joy of cooking and Julia Child for the content and education they offer both the experienced and beginner. I liked this book so much I gave it to my brother for his birthday and he loved it. (For purely selfish reasons, every time I give him a cookbook he makes a meal from it and invites me for dinner.) 5 stars (Comfort food at its best) - I love this book! Delicious one-dish meals, casseroles, slow cooker recipes, etc., without one can of "cream of whatever" soup. The analysis of what they tried along the way to develop the best recipes is interesting too. I only wish the recipes were a little less involved and took less time to execute, but I do appreciate quality over speed. 5 stars (Great Format!) - If you love the magazine, "Cook's Illustrated" but don't know how to organize the recipes (photocopy/cut-and-paste onto 4x6" cards? tear out your favorites and keep in a binder? keep all the issues and try to remember which had what?), then this book is for you. The recipes, the background, the tips -- they're all here in an organized, workable format. Hooray! ...

It was quite helpful in getting us started with our project. Thanks. 5 stars (Wiggers Flooring and Design Inc.) - First let me start by saying how much this book has inspired me. After reading it cover to cover I decided to leave my current company platform to include custom counters for my many clients. Of course only after pourung quite a few for my friends and for myself as well. The possibilies are endless when it comes to concrete design. This book has made us realize the full potential of the liquid state of concrete. I have just ordered the newest book the author released recently and am egerly awaiting the arrival. 1 stars (Nice Book if You Can Get It) - Why did Amazon even bother putting this book on their site? I have waited 4 MONTHS for it. There seems to be no place in the world where this book can be obtained. Granted the author and publisher are partially to blame for putting this book in such small distribution, but why would Amazon bother to say it can be ordered through them? I hope anyone considering this book realizes it's just not worth the wait. 5 stars (This book is a bargain) - If you are a person who desires to eat cleaner and healthier and have no clue where to begin then this is the book for you. It is not a gourmet "heart attack on a plate" or " Quick n easy unhealthy food" cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow and not overly complicated, yet will taste good and be way better than just edible like some other diet foods are. Yummy and nourishing are two words coming to mind right now. Look at the cover and I can tell you the food tastes as good as it looks. Just be sure you really are serious about the Lean, Strong body because that`s what you will get if you use the recipes in this book! 5 stars (Great Book with simple to prepare recipes) - I bought Stellas Kitchen a few months ago and I really like the book. The recipes are easy to follow and well explained for people, like me, who are not experienced chefs. I personally think the simplicity of the recipes is an asset to the book. This is a great resource for those involved in the Iron game. It give many great suggestions for preparing tasty, high-protein meals simply and conveniently. Even my wife who is not especially health conscious likes the recipes in this cook book. I have found the recipes for preparing meats, poultry, and fish to be especially good. I also like the fact that the cook book explains what makes these recipes healthier than the average recipe.
