Indigo Dreams- Meditation and Relaxation Bedtime Stories for Children- Improve Sleep- Manage Stress

5 stars (Great relaxation CD!) - I purchased this CD for my kids (ages 9 & 6)about a year ago. They love it and so do I. At first they were both a little giggly at it but then after a night or two they were asking for it and it began to be part of our nightime ritual. I love it as well and have found it to be very relaxing myself. I have some of my own relaxation CD's that I listen to and this CD uses the same methods for relaxation but in a kid friendly way! It's just great. I'm looking for another one for some variety. 5 stars (Indigo Dreams) - This is a great relaxation CD. I purchased it for my 9 year old son, who is having problems with night terrors and anxiety in general. Since we have started listening to it to go to sleep, the night terrors have significantly decreased and he seems more relaxed overall. I highly recommend this CD -- it is a great way to teach children how to relax. 5 stars (Great for the entire family!) - I recently ordered this CD for my 4 yr old daughter. The first night we listened to it together, and she enjoyed it very much. Even I managed to follow the stories and relax right along with her. It helped her fall to sleep and have a restful night. No more nightmares or monster's under the bed, she looks forward to bed every night. Highly recommed it to parents of kids with a lot of energy. You won't believe the change. ...

Full Catastrophe Living- Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress- Pain- and Illness

5 stars (It saved my life) - I read this book several years back, when I was going through a horrible legal trial. I used his thoughts and suggestions for mindfulness and meditation and have never looked back. It saved me! I suggest this book for anyone who is going through mental, physical or emotional pain...and those looking for a way to remain constant. It's a gem! 3 stars (Need to dig for the pearls.....) - The book if filled with thoughtful insight into how to live in peace. Yet, much of this insight is buried in 625 or so pages of distracting verbiage-it's not distilled. A reader with limited time and attention (me and, maybe, you) gets his train of thought derailed in Mr. Kabat-Zinn's personal life and the details of how he founded his stress reduction clinic at U of Mass. This static interferes with effective assimilation of his important points. 5 stars (series 1 tapes) - I am a child clinical psychologist, and I recommend the use of the series 1 tapes/cds which go with this book. I have had a great deal of success using these in my practice with children as young as 7. the tapes cds are available at http://www.mindfulnesstapes.com/ Dr. Nancie R. Spector ...

Don-t Sweat the Small Stuff--and it-s all small stuff Don-t Sweat the Small Stuff Series

5 stars (It has help) - This book is awesome. It has help me in many ways. The book has opened up my eyes and everything seems to be clear. I recommend this to everyone even if your not going through tough times. You can can see other people's expereince through this book. In somewhat ways everyone has expereince differently. 3 stars (Life Is Not a Bowl of Cherries.) - Most of us get all worked up about things which, upon closer examination, aren't really that big a deal. We focus on little problems and concerns and blow them out of proportion. One example is a minor problem in traffic when a stranger cuts in front and perhaps causes a near accident. We convince ourselves that we are justified in our anger. The other day, Jeff followed my directions to turn right, without looking to his left. A car was right up on him but, since no one was in the approaching lane, she was able to get over. Then she forced him off the road. I told him not to get out of the car as that was road rage. The woman gave him a good lecture, then cooled down when I said, "He's from Nashville. He didn't know where he was." Road rage and running through red lights are the things to do in this town. Do not worry about little things. Instead of "sweating the small stuff," take time to contemplate a solution. You'll have a lot more energy to be kinder and gentler. When your mind is clear and peaceful and your stress level is reduced, you'll have more fun. When your stress is small, it's manageable and easy to control. We all have high (optimistic about the future and grateful for the past)) and low, negative moods (life is never as bad as it seems at that time). In a low mood, you feel that your whole life is wrong. In a good mood, everything seems to go much better. Life is never fair. It should be, but it's not and it won't be someday. We determine our rate by not expecting fairness and feeling sorry for ourselves. It is our own challenge to overcome personal struggles. ...

Getting Things Done- The Art of Stress-Free Productivity

5 stars (still using method over 1 year later) - This is a perfect personal organitional method. It is so simple it could have been described in 1 chapter. But its good to be convinced of the pitfalls of disorder and the stress it produces. There are a few parts I haven't put in place yet. I am a teacher and I was totally overwhelmed with paperwork and seemingly endless amount of things I needed to do to prepare lessons, teach these 7th graders all day, grade, keep records, reports, deal with the ridiculous amount of paperwork they are constantly piling on top of you: memos, curriculum, behavior plans, tardy forms, referrals, progress reports, IEPs, IAPs, calendars, schedules, personelle forms, insurance, sign this, fill out this, parent call logs, and on and on and on and on you get the picture. etc etc etc for a new teacher it was quite overwhelming plus i was dog tired after teaching all day! I went to office depot after school one day and saw this book and got it on a whim. The INBOX, the one filing system, the trash it, act on it or defer it. These SAVED MY SANITY. It is amazing what an organized life with no loose ends can do for you mentally and physically. The philosphy and application of Allen provides are priceless priceless PRICELESS and its not complicated!!! 5 stars (Most effective getting-organized book I've ever read) - This book takes an entirely different tack from most other getting-organized books. Other authors advocate figuring out the big picture first ... but most of us are so busy with daily fires that the luxury of high-level goals seems beyond our grasp. With his bottom-up approach, David Allen starts you off you a few simple ways to get a handle on your everyday tasks -- so that you can free up enough mental space to even start to think about your long-term goals. Once your head is clear and you're no longer burning so much energy on tracking things that are better tracked externally, other books (like Stephen Covey...

Who Moved My Cheese- An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life

5 stars (Stays with you) - This book is one of those little gems that will stay with you for years. I find myself thinking about the ideas and stories in this book several times a year, and I use the title in conversation quite frequently. A must read. 3 stars (OK, but overpriced) - An "interesting" idea of teaching adults by anecdotes and fairy tales... I don't want to be too harsh but I find this book overpriced. I find "Why Some Cats are Rascals" much more interesting. It's loaded with positive energy that bears some traces of influence by writings of David R. Hawkins, the author of "Power vs. Force." It is also much cheaper. 5 stars (This book is worth every penny!!!) - This was an excellent book. A small book with a big message. It helped me to pay close attention to my attempts to avoid change. I have learned through this book that it is just better to accept change and move forward. They also have a kids edition which I will definitely be purchasing for my daughter. As I said, this book is worth every penny. ...
