Healthy Sleep Habits- Happy Child

5 stars (This Book Changed Our Lives) - When my daughter was 7 months old she was waking up every 90 minutes and not napping well. I was exhausted and becoming anxious. I felt powerless to help her. I knew something had to change. A dear friend gave me this book and by coincidence a family meember also sent me the same book. This book is so good because it is filled with useful information that actually helped my family. I tried several of his recomendations with great results. Every now and then my daughters sleep will go through changes and I still consult this book for help. I have given it to many people. My own Pediatrician did not know as much about sleep as Weisslbuth does. Every new parent should own this book. I cannot say more good things about it. 5 stars (This saved my sanity (and probably my marriage)) - I can't say enough good things about this book. I read it when my son was 5 months old. Prior to that, he 'napped' during the day for about 30 minutes at a time and screamed the rest of the day and night. Turns out, he was seriously over tired and all of my attempts to get him to sleep were actually adding to the problem. The day I put the advice in this book into action, my life changed. I am actually able to enjoy my son. Buy it. Buy two just in case you lose the first one. 3 stars (Helped with naps...) - "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" is a good reference guide for getting your child to sleep better during the day. My son went from maybe taking one nap to taking 3 decent naps. I now know his "tired" signals and immediately put him to bed. It is very rare when he fights naps now. However, this book has not helped us with his night-wakings. The book tells parents to put the child to sleep between 6 pm and 6:30, my child won't sleep at 6 pm. He has gotten himself on a schedule where between 6:30 and 7 pm he wants to be in his pj's and eating and then put to bed. The book also suggests not getting the child when he cries...in other wo...

What to Expect the First Year- Second Edition

5 stars (Good Read & Indsepensible) - I can't say how many times this book has come in handy. I am in the military stationed far from Mom and the rest of my family. It certainly saved on my long distance! 5 stars (Review by first time mom!) - I found this book to be especially useful in the first few months of my baby's birth. From my exprience these first few months can be quite daunting simply becasue everything is so new. The slightest thing is cause for concern and there were questions all the time. This book provided me answers to all of them. Like the sudden crying bouts in the evening which may not necessarily be attributed to colic (i knew this after reading the entire section on colic - which was an eye opener!) or the spit ups and what to make of them based on their texture. My daughter had blood in her [...] and her [...] were engorged after birth. Of course I thought the worst! The book explained why and that it was perfectly normal. Boy was I relieved! One night I awoke to find my 2 1/2 month old baby with a stuffed nose and having a hard time breathing. There were some excellent home remedies recommended in this book for such a situation. Of course at the the time I simply called my doctor. But I later found that the same solution offered by my doctor was in the home remedy section of the book. I promptly read all the home remedies suggested. There is also a wonderful section on breastfeeding, expressing milk, what kind of pump to buy etc. Baby's grandparents really wanted me to feed her water in case she was dehydrated. I needed only to refer them to the relevant page which tells you why it needen't be given. I found the bits on how to tell if baby is getting enough breastmilk to be most useful too. You can never tell especially if you're feeding on demand. Just to highlight how comprehensive this book is, it also had some great advice on how to deal with baby's well meaning but overbearing grandparents. There is also other basic information...

SIGN with your BABY Complete Learning Kit- US DVD Version- Book- Training Video DVD - Quick Referen

5 stars (Great help) - Lots of helpful signs, and it is also nice to see how other babies look when they are signing. 5 stars (Sign with your baby really works!) - I'm amazed at how easy Garcia's materials made it to learn to sign with my infant daughter. It's such a relief to be able to communicate with her and know what she wants without having to guess. Garcia's book and video are very easy to follow and I can't wait to try new signs with her. 5 stars (Wonderful and easy!) - This book is an easy read! I was looking for something that would guide me in teaching my hearing daughter ASL. This book, I feel, helps with the very basic signs that I want to teach her! Plus the DVD is very informative and motivational! I absolutely loved seeing the young children signing! I would recommend! I started teaching my daughter just a couple weeks ago (7 mos). She will be turning eight months in a few weeks and I'm hoping I will see her first sign then! ...

Toddler Bundle Pooh Toddler- Mickey Toddler- and Book of Pooh

4 stars (Learning is fun with disney characters and great artwork) - The games in these 3 CD-ROM are well designed for toddler. With the lovely pooh, tigger, piglet, mickey, and other disney charaters, the learning ideas are well presented in games - guessing, playing music, counting. The art works are greate too. I love them. My daughter loves them. She even begin to learn how to use mouse with it. Once side effect is it changes the computer's desktop background to all white. I have no problem to exit the game. And if you feel hard to exit the game, please press Alt-F4 2 stars (Look for something else!) - My son likes a couple of the pooh games, but the others seem to have gliches. Very difficult to get out of the game. I usually have to just turn the computer off to get out of it. The pooh cd also messes up the graghics even after I get out of the game and have to restart the computer to fix it. The pooh game seems to have good ideas, just too many bugs to be worth it! ...

Disney Learning Toddler

2 stars (Okay as games go) - This game is okay as games go. It is a little advanced for my 3yo to play alone. We also had lots of trouble installing it. I finally learned that with these types of programs on XP I have to just run the play.exe file. There is not a lot of variety in the activities, but the pictures are cute, and My 3yo can answer most of the activities and we can play the game together until she learns better mouse skills. 2 stars (It does work with XP) - But I was not impressed at all and my 2 1/2 year old son was not interested. 2 stars (disappointing) - We bought this mostly because our 15 month old has Jumpstart Toddler and we (parents) are sick of the same music over and over again (though she loves Jumpstart Toddler!) Unfortunately, this (Disney) is a major disappointment. Issues we have/had include: 1) CD required in drive to play game. Who in their right mind thinks it's a good idea to require the CD for toddlers??? My daughter had the CD popped out 4 times just the first time trying this program. (and crashed the system 3 of those times) I mucked with the registry and .ini files but was unable to get it to load without requiring the CD. 2) toddler needs good mouse skills. Most everything is mouse driven, and while some keyboard strokes did something, navigating required the mouse. 3) large delays loading games, breaks in voices. Since everything comes from the CD, there are large breaks in the game while loading animations, including breaks in voice over in the middle of sentences. Very choppy. (PII-300, plenty fast for other games - and old enough that I don't mind the toddler playing with it) 4) no immediate reaction to keystrokes/clicks some times. When the animation sequences are going on, no keystrokes or mouse clicks will do anything. My daughter rapidly lost interest because she'd hit keys and nothing would happen. 5) while my daughter is young for this game, she was unable to run the program on her own, requiring ...

Baby Bargains- Secrets to Saving 20% to 50% on Baby Furniture- Equipment- Clothes- Toys- Maternity W

1 stars (Ick!) - This book is freaky. It is all about baby stuff that no one buys.. like all the stuff that sits on the shelf at Wal Mart and then gets sold at Big Lots. There are no super-cool things in it at all. If you want to be a dowdy mom with no style, listen to the advice of this author. I found a much better book out there.. I'll post my review on that tomorrow... not finished reading it yet. This one is just icky. 4 stars (I was completely clueless and this book helped a lot!) - I was by myself, (mother and sisters too far away in distance and baby ages), and found this book very helpful to guide me on what was or was not needed. I only would say that I NEVER bought something from where they suggested to get it. I always looked at online savings/cupons and offers. I saved a TON of money and still got the best products for us... for example, look at ebay for things you can clean and machine wash -- we got everything new and that was a mistake we regret. Swing, Bouncy, Mobiles, toys, safety items and decorations, are things you can buy used ans save a lot! There is also the church sales and the statewide garage sales to get good bargains. I went ahead and copied the phrase from the last review (the one that talks about clothe diapers and making your own formula) CANNOT DISAGREE MORE with the savings approach (I'm a working mother) but definitive ABSOLUTELY AGREE with this statement Overall, I would recommend purchasing Baby Bargains. After all, it is a *really* good book for product information, what you need and what you don't. However, it could definitely go farther in saving you money with low cost alternatives and online coupon website recommendations! I have given this book as a present to all my friends that are having babies this year...it can be found for $6-7 and that is your savings by not buying the wipe warmer, for example. 4 stars (Extremely helpful) - There are soooo many things on the market to buy for baby/toddler these days!! ...
